pictures!

Yes, it is finally time to spice up this lifeless blog with pictures! I really have no excuse, and despite a fairly heavy workload I only have class twice a week (WHOOOO!), and most of my free time is spent in the Stanford House watching Friends exploring Oxford and taking walks everywhere. Right.

Walking by St. James' Park on my first day in London. Very, very pretty, but English birds are hideously fat. Dublin birds, on the other hand, are hideously deformed. There doesn't seem to be a happy medium on this continent.

Went for a walk and discovered Christ Church college, one of the prettiest colleges at Oxford, and the site for some of the filming of the first Harry Potter films (the dining hall was used as the Great Hall, and the staircase was filmed in the first movie for the kids' arrival). Alas, we weren't allowed into the dining hall. I'll have to find a way to sneak in later.

Had to go to the police station last week (I know, I know... already!), and on the walk there, I found punts. I'm hitting these up as soon as May Day arrives, because if I fall into the water and drown, I'd rather it happened in warmer waters.

Oh, and the police station was full of Arabs, of course.

The river in Dublin. Now that I've recovered I have a much softer spot for the city... even though it wasn't that exciting. I prefer London and Oxford.

The ceiling of Brasenose, the college I'm affiliated with. Pretty! We also saw the wardrobe that inspired the, um, wardrobe and lamppost in The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. This was entirely lost on me, since I'd never read any C.S. Lewis, but everyone else seemed excited.

I think this was at ... Christ Church Cathedral? Well, some cathedral in Dublin. The cat chased the mouse into the cathedral organ, both fell in, and were subsequently mummified. Fools.

A secret room in the Bodleian library led to the filming site for the infirmary in the Harry Potter films. Ain't it pretty?
